Mangalore: Manjula Manasa meets ATI head Rashmi Mahesh, collects first-hand report Karnataka State Women’s?Commission Chairperson?Manjula Manasa on Sunday expressed unhappiness over “insufficient” information provided by the Mysore police on the assault on Rashmi V?Mahesh, the Director General of Administrative Training Institute (ATI).

Addressing the media, she said, in the wake of inadequate information provided by the Police Commissioner M?A?Saleem, she herself had to speak to Rashmi at the latter’s official residence here.

Refusing to divulge what transpired between the two during the 40-minute meeting, Manjula said, “I had to come here as the Police Commissioner had given me only the complaint copies related to the case. I have sent a reminder to him seeking additional information. I have also written to the Chief Secretary Kaushik?Mukherjee to direct the police commissioner to provide complete details like the security cover given to the officer after the incident, her mental status, treatment given for the injuries sustained and also the current place of her stay.”

Manjula blamed the superintendent of police and the police commissioner for being ‘cagey,’ when she sought preliminary information soon after the incident on October 15. “After taking stock of the matter, the Commission registered a suo motu case within 24 hours of the incident,” she claimed.

IAS office still in shock

She said that Rashmi was still recovering from the shock. “She has suffered a blood clot in her head, injury in her eye, and a broken tooth.”

Manjula was accompanied by women activist Jayalakshmi Urs and convener of Association of Concerned and Informed Citizens of Mysore (ACICM)?M?Lakshmana during the meeting.
