Bengaluru, (DHNS): The Congress on Monday warned the BJP against making any attempts to fan communal tensions in Karnataka over granting minority status to the Lingayat community.
"If the BJP tries to fan communal tensions, such attempts will be dealt with as per law," Congress spokesperson Randeep Singh Surjewala told reporters here. He said the Karnataka government had followed all the due processes of law and examined claims and counter claim on the issue of granting religious minority status to the Lingayat community. Surjewala dared Karnataka BJP president B S Yeddyurappa and BJP president Amit Shah to clarify their position on the Lingayat issue.
"Are you in favour of the decision, or are you against this decision," he asked the BJP and accused it of remaining silent for the fear of annoying votebanks.
