Bengaluru, (DHNS): 3Wayste, a French company, began a waste management feasibility study in Bengaluru on Wednesday. It will focus on the ways to deploy its waste management technology to the local conditions of the city. 3Wayste had signed a memorandum of understanding with the BBMP to set up a waste-to-energy plant in Chikkanagamangala.

The city is expected to generate about 3,500-4,000 tonnes of waste every day and has the capacity to process about 2,600 tonnes every day. The plant is expected to process 500 tonnes of garbage every day and the energy generated here will be sold to the Karnataka Power Transmission Corporation Limited. The study is expected to conclude by the year-end. Alexandre Ziegler, the French ambassador to India, met Mayor R Sampath Raj, Sarfaraz Khan, joint commissioner, health and solid waste management, and Mahendra Jain, additional chief secretary of the urban development department, on Wednesday.
