Heavy rain in M'luru, Kodagu

Mangaluru/Madikeri/ Shivamogga, (DHNS): Incessant rain lashed Dakshina Kannada on Friday night and Saturday afternoon. In the last 24 hours, the district received an average of 50.2 mm rainfall.

This includes 60.5 mm rainfall in Belthangady followed by 60.3 mm rain in Mangaluru, 51.8 mm in Bantwal and 43.9 mm in Puttur taluk. While Saturday remained sunny till afternoon, the sky was overcast later in the day.

The heavy rain that lashed Madikeri threw normal life out of gear on Saturday. Madikeri, Suntikoppa, Mandalpatti, Galibeedu, Gonikoppa, Kutta, Balele, Ponnampet, K Nidugani, Bhagamandala, Talacauvery, Karike, Napoklu received heavy rain. Water level at Triveni Sangama went up following copious showers in Brahmagiri range.

Monsoon seems to have picked up pace in Malnad region on Saturday. Hosanagar, Thirthahalli, Sagar received good spell of rain intermittently throughout the day. Shivamogga, Bhadravathi also received rain. Rain accompanied by gusty winds lashed Kalaburagi city and surrounding areas for the second day on Saturday.
