Heavy rain in coastal districts

Bengaluru, (DHNS): Heavy rain lashed Dakshina Kannada and Uttara Kannada districts on Saturday.

Rain resumed in the coastal districts after a lull.

Torrential downpour was reported from different parts of the district. In the last 24 hours (ending 8 am on Saturday) the district received an average of 29.5 mm rainfall with Mangaluru taluk recording 70.7 mm rainfall. A few areas in Attavar, Kottara Chowki remained inundated. The sky remained overcast throughout the day.

Kodagu too experienced bountiful rainfall throughout the day. The water level in river Cauvery has increased at Palooru, Kottamudi, and Balamuri. Virajpet and Gonikoppa too received good rain. Parts of Chikkamagaluru received good rain on Saturday.

Bhatkal, Honnavar, Kumta, Ankola and Karwar in Uttara Kannada district received rain for the whole day. In the last 24 hours (ending 8 am on Saturday), the district recorded 205.80 mm of rain.

Parts of Belagavi district received showers for an hour. Overcast conditions were witnessed across the district. The twin cities of Hubballi-Dharwad too received intermittent rain on Saturday. The inflow into Almatti reservoir went up and River Doni is in spate.

Moderate to heavy rain lashed several parts of Shivamogga district.

Hosanagar, Thirthahalli, Sagar received heavy rain in the evening. Showers pounded Shivamogga and Bhadravathi early in the morning. Shikaripur and Sorab received moderate rain.
