Bengaluru, (DHNS): Preparations are on to launch India canteens in Chikkamagaluru district. Eight Indira canteens were sanctioned to the district. The opening of these canteens was delayed due to inordinate delay in the work and enforcement of model code of conduct. Two Indira canteens will be opened in Chikkamagaluru and one each in Tarikere, Kadur, Mudigere, N R Pura, Koppa and Sringeri. Deputy Commissioner M K Srirangaiah said that the canteens will be inaugurated by July end. The canteens at N R Pura and Sringeri will be inaugurated first. An official of City Development Cell said that the building work towards the canteen has been complete in Chikkamagaluru, Koppa, Kadur and also at N R Pura. The work is in the final stage at Mudigere, Sringeri and Tarikere.

Tender process towards food supply is also complete. Bharatiya Manava Kalyana Parishat has availed the tender. Kitchen ingredients have been supplied to Indira canteens at Chikkamagaluru, Koppa, Kadur and N R Pura. Depending upon the population, breakfast and afternoon meals will be limited to 500 people in Tarikere, 300 people in Kadur and 200 people in N R Pura, Koppa, Sringeri and Mudigere.
