Bengaluru, DHNS: For the next one year, the JD(S) would focus on reaching out to the people of Bengaluru, especially non-Kannadigas, who have made the city their home, said party state president H D Kumaraswamy.

Addressing the media during the two-day meeting of party workers and leaders and office-bearers of the 28 Assembly constituencies of Bengaluru on Saturday, Kumaraswamy said that over the last few years, the city’s vast growth has effected large-scale migration of people from other states.

However, a majority of them are not even aware of the existence of the JD(S). The party would resolve to reach out to these people in the next one year, and make them aware of its vision plan for the city.

He said as chief minister he had drawn up several infrastructure projects for Bengaluru, to ease traffic congestion. However, the BJP, instead of furthering the projects, had looted the city.

Earlier in the day, JD(S)?supremo H D Deve Gowda said that rebel MLA K Gopalaiah had apologised to Kumaraswamy on Friday.

Gowda said that though Gopalaiah had been suspended from the JD(S) for anti-party activities, he had however carried out developmental activities in his Mahalakshmi Layout constituency under the party banner and symbol.
