Bengaluru, (DHNS): A group of civil rights activists is holding a rally in the national capital on October 5, demanding speedy investigation into the murder of activist-journalist Gauri Lankesh.

The ‘Justice for Gauri’ rally will be taken out from Mandi House here to Jantar Mantar and the ‘Forum against the assassination of Gauri Lankesh’ has appealed to people from all walks of life to join the protest.

The Forum, at its meeting attended by Dalit activist Jignesh Mevani, Swaraj Abhiyan leader Yogendra Yadav, activist Achin Vinayak and Dileep Pandey of AAP, demanded that the Karnataka government expedite the investigation into Gauri’s murder.

“It is all the more necessary that we the people of India apply moral and political pressure on the prevailing regime such that an unbiased enquiry is conducted not only to arrest the criminals behind the act but also the extra-constitutional forces behind them,” a statement issued by the Forum said.

The Forum also urged people to join the de-centralised but coordinated protests in front of Gandhi statues and memorials across the country on October 2 to demand justice for Gauri.
