Mangaluru: State Minister for Food and Civil Supplies who is known for his humanitarian gestures, has once again come to the rescue of the distressed. This time, he rushed to the help of some Shabarimale pilgrims who were in danger after their car caught fire at Pumpwell-Nantoor stretch on January 13 evening.

The car with pilgrims from Kundagola in Dharwad was returning after visiting Dharmasthala when it all of a sudden caught fire. The Minister who also happened to be passing by that route, on noticing the impending danger, rushed to the place and tried to douse the flames with the help of the water from the bottles in his car. The minister also threw mud in a bid to extinguish the fire.

He even helped the pilgrims get out of the car safely along with their luggages and the Shabarimala prasadam. The fire brigade personnel too arrived at the spot to assist in the relief operations.

The Minister also arranged for the dinner of the pilgrims and even extended monetary aid to help them return to their native place by a KSRTC bus.
