‘Konkani Bible Marathon’

The much awaited ‘Konkani Bible Marathon’ gets underway on Monday, the 26th of July 2021. Most Rev. Peter Machado, the Metropolitan Archbishop of the Archdiocese of Bangalore will flag off the Marathon with a message and prayer at 8.30 in the morning on the 26th of July 2021. He will set in motion the continuous proclamation by reading the first chapter from the Book of Genesis and the proclaimers will carry forward from then on. The proclamation will be relentless by 48 proclaimers at every half an hour changing the proclaimer from 9.00 AM on the 26th to the 30th of July till the last verse of the last book is completed.

The Commission for Bible of the Archdiocese of Bangalore has organized the ‘KONKANI BIBLE MARATHON’ with support of the Federation of Konkani Catholic Associations (FKCA), Bangalore. In order to technically assist the readers there will be 12 Admins with the readers giving instructions as and when required. All the proclaimers and the Admins are from the parishes of the Archdiocese of Bangalore.

This is first of its kind online Bible Marathon in Konkani, with a continuous proclamation of the entire Bible is available all over the world. It is a devotion of proclamation of the Bible, a delightful breaking of the Word of God. The event will be available live on the YouTube Channel of the Archdiocese of Bangalore, the website of the Federation of Konkani Catholic Associations on all the days and we encourage everyone to log in to it at your convenience and listen to the Word of God being proclaimed uninterrupted. Be part of this historic event and be blessed by the Lord. Hence, people of the Konkani diaspora spread all over the world are invited to be part of the marathon that they may have the experience of listening to the Word of God and savour the taste of the Word.

The Bible Marathon Committee of organizers in headed by Mr. Nigel Fernandes of the ATC Publishers and under the guidance of Fr. Faustine L. Lobo (Director – Karnataka Regional Pastoral Centre). The other members of the committee are Mr. Sylvian Noronha (Chairman - FKCA), Fr. George Vincent Lobo (Regional Secretary - SCC), Mrs. Nora Menezes, Mrs. Cynthia Lobo, Mrs. Ida Sequeira, Mrs. Laveena Fernandes, Mr. Godwin Castelino, and Mr. Peter D’Souza.
