Madikeri, DHNS: Coffee estates belonging to liquor baron Vijay Mallya have been sold off, a team of the Enforcement Directorate (ED) from Mumbai has found.
Coffee plantations spanning three acres, 127 acres and 106 acres, have been sold for Rs 18 lakh, Rs 35 crore and Rs 77 crore, to a person by name Janardhana Shetty. A total of 236 acres have been registered in the name of Shetty. The sale transactions were done in January itself, even before the ED?could attach the properties, and they came to light only now. Of the 388.74 acres owned by Mallya, only a part of it remains with him. The ED has take possession of 28 acres and documents related to them.
