Mysuru, (DHNS): District incharge Minister H C Mahadevappa released the Mysuru Dasara 2017 logo at a meeting of the Dasara executive committee here on Monday. Dasara is scheduled to be held from September 21 to 30.

The minister advised the officials to base the theme for Dasara this year on ‘democracy,’ ‘Constitution’ and ‘women’s empowerment’. This year too, Dasara will be celebrated in a simple but significant manner, as the drought situation has continued in the state.

Mysuru Dasara will be inaugurated at 9 am on September 21 and Chief Minister Siddaramaiah will decide on the dignitary who will inaugurate the festivities, he said. Mahadevappa said the chief minister agreed to sanction Rs 15 crore for the celebrations during the Dasara high-power committee meeting held in Bengaluru recently.

The state government will release a total of Rs 21 crore, including the pending Rs 5.45 crore sanctioned for Dasara-2016.

Permanent logo

A permanent logo for Mysuru Dasara will be finalised after holding discussions with Siddaramaiah and the officials concerned.

The authorities have planned to consider the present logo as permanent, but the matter will be decided in the days to come, Deputy Commissioner D Randeep said.
