PM can't intervene in Cauvery issue: BSY

Bengaluru, DHNS: BJP?state president B?S?Yeddyurappa on Friday said it will not be possible for Prime Minister Narendra Modi to intervene in the Cauvery dispute as the matter was before the courts.

Politically motivated

Yeddyurappa told reporters on the sidelines of an event in Bengaluru that Congress’ repeated demands for Modi’s intervention was politically motivated as it wanted to divert people’s attention from its failure in handling the Cauvery water sharing issue.Expert panel

He said the government ought to have sought directions from the Supreme Court to send an expert committee to the Cauvery basin to assess the ground realities. He said that though the BJP had sought this several weeks ago, the government failed to make a submission. Its failure was now costing the people of the state, especially farmers of the Cauvery basin, dear.
