Para beach volleyball event on Malpe beach

Udupi, (The Hindu): The Paralympic Volleyball Federation of India, in association with the Karnataka State Volleyball Association for the Physically Challenged, will be organising the First Para Beach Volleyball Senior Standing National Championship on the Malpe beach here from September 27 to 29.

Addressing presspersons here on Tuesday, H. Chandrashekhar, President of Paralympic Volleyball Federation of India, said that 200 players from Para Beach Volleyball teams from 15 States will take part in the championship. Karnataka, Goa, Telangana, Tamil Nadu, Pondicherry, Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Rajasthan, Haryana, Bihar, West Bengal, Kerala, Jharkhand and Delhi will take part.

The Indian team for the proposed World Volleyball Series will also be selected from the tournament.

Jaimala, Minister for Women and Child Development, will inaugurate the event. The event will also coincide with the World Tourism Day celebrations to be held on Malpe beach, he said.
