Priest hurt in fall during firewalk

Mandya, DHNS: A priest suffered burns when he tripped and fell on the embers during a firewalk ritual at Sunaganahalli in Mandya taluk on Tuesday.

The ritual was organised as part of the village fair. The injured priest is S D Manu, a resident of the village. The incident is said to have occurred at 8.30 am, in front of the temple, where the temple committee had organised the ritual. Alert devotees dragged him out, thus preventing a tragedy.

He suffered burns on his arms and legs. He is being treated at the Mandya Institute of Medical Sciences hospital and is said to be out of danger.
