Udupi, (The Hindu): A function was held to mark the accreditation of the Sri Dharmasthala Manjunatheshwara (SDM) Ayurveda Hospital, Kuthpady, by the National Accreditation Board for Hospitals and Healthcare Providers (NABH) here on Tuesday.

Unveiling the certificate provided by the NABH to the hospital, K. Raghupati Bhat, MLA, said that the SDM Hospital was known for the quality healthcare services rendered by it. The accreditation was yet another feather in the cap of the hospital as it showed that it met the parameters set by the NABH.

The SDM Ayurveda Hospital was one of the few hospitals in the region to have been accredited by the NABH. Ayurveda was now a most sought-after medicine system. If the Ayurveda doctors followed Ayurveda medicine system only, there was lot of scope for it, Mr. Bhat said. Mamatha K.V., Medical Superintendent of SDM Ayurveda Hospital, said that the SDM Ayurveda Hospital here was the third Ayurveda hospital in the State to get the NABH accreditation. It was one of the 35 AYUSH hospitals in the country and was the only Ayurveda hospital in the Coastal region to get the accreditation, she said.

Dinakar Babu, president of Udupi Zilla Panchayat, Muralidhar Sharma, former Medical Superintendent of the hospital, G. Shrinivasa Acharya, Principal of SDM College of Ayurveda, were among those present.
