Mumbai (The Hindu): Minister for Haj and Urban Development R. Roshan Baig said here on Wednesday that Muslims should show the world that “Islam is really a religion of peace”.
Addressing a gathering at the Haj camp at the old terminal building of the Mangaluru International Airport, the Minister said that “terrorism is a disease” and Islam does not preach violence.
Those Muslims who indulge in terrorist activities and violence do not belong to Islam, he said.
He asked Haj pilgrims to pray for peace in society, particularly the coastal districts of the State prone to communal trouble. “Pray for peace in the State and country,” he said.
The Minister said that Haj pilgrims from India are less subjected to security checks at Madina than their counterparts in Pakistan.
