Bengaluru,(DHNS): Kannada and Culture Minister Jayamala on Wednesday said that the government was proud to invite Infosys Foundation chairperson and writer Sudha Murty to inaugurate the Dasara festivities in Mysuru this year. Speaking to reporters here, Jayamala said that Sudha was “most suited” to inaugurate Dasara, when she was asked why the government had zeroed in on her.

“Sudha Murty is kind-hearted and modest despite her success. She has given life to lakhs of students, by helping them in their education and employment through her Foundation. I am really proud to say that a woman of her caliber is inaugurating Dasara,” she added. Defends CM’s temple run When asked about Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy’s temple run ever since he assumed office, an irked Jayamala demanded to know if visiting temples was wrong.

“It’s ridiculous to question somebody about their faith. The chief minister has been visiting temples for the welfare of the people. Don’t you people (journalists) believe in God?” she said. Defending former chief minister Siddaramaiah, Jayamala said that her party leader was not making any efforts to topple the government. "However there are some opportunists who are waiting for the government to fall," she added.
