T S Nagabharana to direct film on late D Devaraj Urs

Bengaluru: Kannada film director T S Nagabharana has been asked by the state government to produce a film on former Karnataka chief minister late D Devaraj Urs to mark his birth centenary.

Urs was instrumental in implementing the most progressive Land Reforms Act and was hailed as the champion of backward classes, ruled the state as chief minister during 1972–77 and 1978–80. The state government has decided to produce a film on the life and achievements of Urs. The estimated cost of the film is Rs 3 crore.

The film will be released across the state at cinemas and will be a fitting tribute to the champion of the poor and backward classes besides farmers.
