Mangaluru (The Hindu): The Dakshina Kannada police have intensified security arrangements in clash-hit Kalladka town ahead of the proposed installation of Hanuman statue on Monday.

The police conducted a route march on all main roads of the town to instil confidence among the general public as well as to send out a strong message to troublemongers.

Additional forces from the Karnataka State Reserve Police are being deployed in the town, said Superintendent of Police Bhushan Gulabrao Borase.

The town has remained peaceful bereft of any incident, he said.

Meanwhile, a video clipping which showed District in-charge Minister B. Ramanath Rai directing the SP to take action against Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh functionary Kalladka Prabhakar Bhat went viral on social media on Sunday.

Mr. Rai was heard asking Mr. Borase to book criminal case against Mr. Bhat if he delivers [inflammatory] speech while referring to Mr. Bhat in the singular.

Many supporters of Mr. Rai were seen in the video clipping.

The Minister asked the SP why attempt to murder cases were booked against Muslims while other softer provisions were applied against Hindus for similar offences.

He said Mr. Bhat was not the representative of Hindus and in fact he is promoting clashes to expand business.

He is a businessman in the guise of religious leader, Mr. Rai said.

The Minister said he wants Bantwal taluk to be peaceful and asked the police to take every action to ensure peace.
