Koppal, (DHNS): "Who is Anant Kumar Hegde to change the Constitution? When he became a union minister, he swore by the Constitution and took office; and now he says that they will change the Constitution. I condemn this statement by Hegde," said Higher Education Minister Basavaraj Rayareddy.

Speaking to reporters in Koppal on Tuesday, Rayareddy said that Hegde was 'unfit to continue as a Central minister'.

Rayareddy said that as long as the caste system continues in the country, reservation is necessary. Reservation percentage has to increase in tandem with the census reports of the state from time to time.

"If Hegde was born into a family of lower caste, he would have known their pain and hardship. Nobody can change the Constitution," the minister asserted.
