Bengaluru, (DHNS): Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Sunday said a final decision was yet to be taken on former MLA and BJP leader Hartala Halappa joining the Congress.

Speaking to reporters here on Sunday, the chief minister said Halappa was in touch with the local leaders of the party. "I will discuss with the party high command in this regard and take a final decision," the chief minister said. Halappa is a leader from the backward classes and the court recently acquitted him in a rape case. Halappa was facing charges of raping his friend's wife in 2009.

The chief minister clarified that BJP leader Gali Janardhan Reddy had not contacted him over joining the Congress.

'Guttedar not a loss'

Commenting about Malikayya Guttedar, the six-time MLA from Afzalpur segment, joining the BJP, Siddaramaiah said, "With Guttedar joining the BJP, a few BJP leaders are planning to join Congress. The leaders are in touch with us," he said.
