National Level Collaborative Indian Mapping Event

MIT Moodabidre’s Civil Engineering Department Winner

Mumbai (RBI), Feb.16: This event was under Atama Nirbhar Bharatah which recently launched by Honorable Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modi, with this winning recognition Mangalore Institute of Technology’s Department of Civil Engineering recognition our Nirbhar Bharatah, In this even participated around 9000 plus from across the nation and declared results of 25 (Champions) 175 (Winners) and 478 (Notable Participants).

 

Team/Lead Dr. Jayaprakash M.C Department of Civil Engineering secured winning recognition under MAPATHAN 2020-21 (A National Level Collaborative Indian Mapping Event) The competition which is jointly organized by IITB-AICTE MAPATHON.

What is Mapathon..?

Mapathon is map-making competition for a specific problem statement. This event organized jointly by IIT Bambay, AICTE and ISRO, will invite all Indians-to produce maps using Indian remote sensing data. The primary objective is to understand the potential of Indian remote sensing data and make maps for Indian regions using free open source mapping software QGIS). The participants will collectively work in a crowd sourcing method for jointly producing thematic maps of India using Indian remote sensing data.

 

Benefits:

Build Capacity in the Country in Space applications towards making India an Aatma Nirbhar Bharat & Global GIS hub. Enabler Platform for Collaborative Problem solving.
